The Germanium selenide is an inorganic chemical compound with the formula GeSe. The product categories are chalcogenides; materials science; metal and ceramic science. The CAS registry number is 12065-10-0 and other registry number is 51682-05-4. In addition, it is black crystalline powder which has orthorhombic (distorted NaCl-type) crystal symmetry; at temperatures ~650 °C, it transforms into the cubic NaCl structure.
The other characteristics of this product can be summarized as: (1)H-Bond Donor: 0; (2)H-Bond Acceptor: 2; (3)Rotatable Bond Count: 0; (4)Exact Mass: 233.754222; (5)MonoIsotopic Mass: 233.754222; (6)Topological Polar Surface Area: 0; (7)Heavy Atom Count: 3; (8)Formal Charge: -4; (9)Covalently-Bonded Unit Count: 3.
Preparation of Germanium selenide: It can be obtained by the reaction of GeCl2 and H2Se. The fusing of Ge and Se powder can get the pure GeSe powder. To grow GeSe crystals, GeSe powder is vaporized at the hot end of a sealed ampule and allowed to condense at the cold end.
