The Gersdorffite (CAS NO.12255-11-7) is a nickel arsenic sulfide mineral. It occurs as euhedral to massive opaque, metallic grey-black to silver white forms and a hydrothermal vein mineral along with other nickel sulfides. It belongs to a solid solution series with cobaltite. It also can be called CCRIS 7584 ; Gersdorffite (NiAsS) ; Nickel sulfarsenide and Nickel sulfarsenide [Nickel and nickel compounds] .
Suspected carcinogen. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic vapors of SOx, Ni, and As. Gersdorffite (CAS NO.12255-11-7) is sometimes used as a nickel ore.
