Trihexyphenidyl (144-11-6), also known as Benzhexol (Artane, Apo-Trihex), is an antiparkinsonian drug of the antimuscarinic class -- specifically at equivalent doses it has 83 per cent of the antimuscarinic power of atropine. It was invented in the United States in 1949, and it has been in clinical usage for decades. Chemically, it is a tertiary amine with alcohol, phenyl, and cyclohexyl moieties. The drug is available as the hydrochloride salt.
