Dichloropentane (CAS NO.30586-10-8) is also named as Pentane, dichloro- . Dichloropentane (CAS NO.30586-10-8) is clear colorless to yellow liquid. It is insoluble in water. Dichloropentane is highly flammable. It may react with some metals to form dangerous products. Dichloropentane is incompatible with strong oxidizing and reducing agents. It is also incompatible with many amines, nitrides, azo/diazo compounds, alkali metals, and epoxides. Dichloropentane may cause toxic effects if inhaled or absorbed through skin. It may irritate or burn skin and eyes if people inhalation or contact with material. Fire will produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may cause pollution. Will be easily ignited by heat, sparks or flames. Vapors of Dichloropentane may form explosive mixtures with air. And they may travel to source of ignition and flash back. They will spread along ground and collect in low or confined areas (sewers, basements, tanks). Vapor explosion hazard indoors, outdoors or in sewers.
