? Barium Sulphate (CAS NO.7727-43-7) is also called AI3-03611 ; Actybaryte ; Artificial barite ; Artificial heavy spar ; BA147 ; BF 1 (salt) ; BF 10 (sulfate) ; Bakontal ; Bar-Test ; Baraflave . Barium Sulphate (CAS NO.7727-43-7) is insoluble in water, dilute acids, alcohol, but soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid. Barium sulfate is non-combustible and non-toxic. Emits toxic sulfur oxides when heated to decomposition. Can act as an oxidizing agent, but usually does not. Reacts with reducing agents such as potassium, phosphorus or aluminum (heating with aluminum can cause an explosion).
