The IUPAC name of Phlorol is 2-Ethylphenol , with CAS Registry Number 90-00-6, it also can be called 2-Ethylphenol ; Phlorol ; Ortho-ethylphenol ; O-ethylphenol ; 1-Ethyl-2-hydroxy-benzen and so on. The molecular formula of Phlorol (CAS NO.90-00-6) is C8H10O and its molecular weight is 122.16 g/mol. It is stable, combustible, and incompatible with acid chlorides, acid anhydrides, oxidizing agents. It is aslo insoluble in water. Phlorol is colourless liquid and it belongs to belongs to the following product categories, such as Aromatic Phenols; Phenol & Thiophenol & Mercaptan; Phenoles and thiophenoles and so on.
When heated to decomposition 2-Ethylphenol emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. It is poison by intraperitoneal route and moderately toxic by ingestion. So wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection to irritating to respiratory system and skin and in case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible).
