Elastase with cas registry number of 9004-06-2 is also known as Neutrophil elastase ; Pancreatopeptidase E ; EC 3.4.21.36 ; EC 3.4.21.37 ; Elastase ; Elastase,leukocyte ; Elastase,neutrophil,human ; Elastase,human neutrophil . It is a White, lyophilized powder with a sltly yellowish shade. Elastase is unstable below pH 3-4. When stored as a dry powder the enzyme is stable 6-12 months. Elastase is an enzyme that can break down proteins through the cleavage of peptide bonds in the target proteins. Elastase is also frequently used to dissociate tissues which contain extensive intercellular fiber networks, because elastin can be found in highest concentrations in the elastic fibers of connective tissues. For this purpose, it is usually used with other enzymes such as collagenase , trypsin , and chymotrypsin . |
