Preparation of Oil Yellow DEA: It can be obtained by N,N-diethyl-4-(phenyl-ONN-azoxy)aniline with solvent benzene at 17 °C and irradiation. This reaction which needs 5 hours can get another product diethyl-[4-(N-phenyl-ONN-azoxy)-phenyl]-amine. The yield is 10%.
Uses of Oil Yellow DEA: It is mainly used for puree coloring of polyester fiber. And it can react with peroxybenzoic acid to get N,N-diethyl-4-phenylazoaniline N-oxide. This reaction needs solvent CHCl3 at ambient temperature. The reaction time is 30 hours. The yield is 32%.
