Etretinate ,its cas register number is 54350-48-0. It also can be called Tigason ; Tigazon ; (all-E)-9-(4-Methoxy-2,3,6-trimethylphenyl)-3,7-dimethyl-2,4,6,8-nonatetraenoic Acid Ethyl Ester and Ethyl etrinoate . It is highly lipophilic and is stored in adipose tissue explaining why its effects can been felt for long periods of time following taking the drug, and has been replaced by acitretin, a metabolite of etretinate. Etretinate (CAS NO.54350-48-0) is a teratogen, and may cause birth defects long after use.
